There was once a King, and he had a Queen. They had several children. Alicia was the eldest, who looked after the other children. The King was in his private profession, under the government. The Queen’s father had been a medical man out of town. 

One day, the King was going to the office when he stopped at the fishmonger’s shop. He needed to buy a pound and a half of salmon which the Queen had requested him to send home. He had not proceeded after finishing his shopping, when the fishmonger’s errand-boy came running after him. He said, “Sir, you didn’t notice the old lady in our shop?” 

“What old lady?” enquired the King “I saw none.” Now the King had not seen any old lady because she had been invisible to him, though visible to the fishmonger’s boy.

2. Read the following passage carefully and answer the following questions :

Patrasayer is a village and a community development block in the Bishnupur Subdivision of Bankura district. The region is historically a part of the ancient Mallabhum Kingdom.

According to the 2011 census of India, Patrasayer had a total population of 10,844 of which 5528 were males and 5316 were females.

Patrasayer Bamira Gurudas Institution is one of the leading Bengali-medium schools of this block. The school was set up in 1915. The school has a library with 3000 books, a big play ground and two NCC divisions. Higher education is supported by Patrasayer Mahavidyalaya.

The famous Kalanjoy Shiva Temple at Patrasayer was built in 18th century. Patrasayer has it’s own railway station on the South-Eastern Railway’s Bankura-Masagram line. Besides the area is well connected with Bankura, Burdwan and Bishnupur towns with regular bus service.
